As President of Elsevier/Gold Standard, Marianne Messer oversees all aspects of product development and sales for the complete suite of pharmacy solutions, including Clinical Pharmacology, Gold Standard Drug Database, ToxED, MTM 360 and ProspectoRx.
Ms. Messer, who joined Elsevier / Gold Standard in 1996, served as Executive Vice President of Sales and Corporate Development since 2004 and was previously Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
With more than 34 years of experience in electronic publishing, Ms. Messer is an expert on the use of information in workflow and point of care systems, as well as on the electronic drug information industry and its role in improving clinical outcomes and reducing costs.
Prior to joining Elsevier / Gold Standard, Ms. Messer worked for LexisNexis, the largest legal and news online information service, a Reed Elsevier company.
Kathleen Vieson, PharmD, BCOP
Vice President, Editor In Chief
Dr. Kathleen Vieson is responsible for managing Elsevier / Gold Standard’s Clinical Pharmacology and ToxED reference tools. She joined Gold Standard in 1998 and previously served as the company’s Vice President of Drug Product Data, Managing Editor of Product Information and Specialty Editor for Oncology, Pain Management and Biotechnology Products.
Before joining Elsevier / Gold Standard, Dr. Vieson was a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist with the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center (Tampa, Fla.), where she also served as Director of the Oncology Pharmacy Specialty Residency and Oncology Team Leader.
Dr. Vieson is a leading expert on regulatory issues governing MedGuides and Patient Drug Information; in particular how those issues affect the pharmacy and drug information industry. She is also well-versed on issues relating to drug information compendia, such as trends and the requirements for drug information at the point-of-care.
Senior Vice President of Drug Products and Industry Standards Research and Compliance
Kay Morgan has served as the Senior Vice President of Drug Products and Industry Standards Research and Compliance for Elsevier / Gold Standard since December 2007. Ms. Morgan’s responsibilities include reviewing existing and new Elsevier / Gold Standard products for compliance with industry standards established by organizations such as the National Council of Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP), Health Level 7 (HL7), Health Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP), Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONCHIT), American Health Information Community (AHIC) and the National Library of Science’s RxNorm. Kay’s expansive knowledge of the industry and the standard setting organizations ensures that Elsevier/Gold Standard products comply with industry standards to promote interoperability.
Prior to joining Elsevier / Gold Standard, Kay was the Manager of Product Knowledge Base Services with First DataBank, where she managed the U.S. pricing file, a component of the National Drug Data File. Kay previously held several positions with Abbott Laboratories, including Manager of Trade Relations and Third Party Payers, as well as Manager of Product Information. Ms. Morgan is a Work Group Co-Chair for the National Council of Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) and a former member of the NCPDP Board of Trustees. Ms. Morgan received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Missouri, where she is an active participant of the Dean’s Advisory Council.
Trygve Anderson, R.Ph.
Vice President Product Management
Trygve Anderson is responsible for managing Elsevier’s Gold Standard Drug Database, MTM 360, MEDalternatives and clinical editorial tools. Mr. Anderson brings 30 plus years experience in healthcare automation with a primary focus on drug information and decisions support. Prior to joining Elsevier / Gold Standard in 2006, Mr. Anderson held a variety of positions with Siemens Medical Systems USA (formerly Shared Medical Systems) focusing on the development, installation and support of clinical and pharmacy systems software. Trygve’s professional background includes practicing pharmacy in both hospital and nuclear pharmacy settings. Mr. Anderson is also a Certified HIPAAA Security Professional (CHSP). Mr. Anderson received his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Purdue University School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in 1979.
Director of Provider Sales
Ross Hammarstedt leads the Provider Sales Team which sells Elsevier / Gold Standard’s products to providers and the HIT companies who serve them. Mr. Hammarstedt has over 25 years of HCIT sales and marketing experience at leading companies like Allscripts, McKesson and Siemens-Shared Medical along with IBM and Ernst and Young. Additionally, he was a Malcolm Baldrige Award winner. He is a graduate of the Universities of Utah and Minnesota and currently resides in Santa Fe, NM.
Director of Commercial Sales
David Darst leads the commercial sales team who sell Elsevier / Gold Standard’s product line to retail pharmacy chains, pharmacy software vendors, PBM’s, health insurers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, long term care organizations and government. He also champions business development efforts with 3rd parties in the commercial health care space. Mr. Darst brings 26+ years experience in the online information industry with sales, sales management, business development and new product development roles at LexisNexis and Reed Technology and Information Services, both of whom are Reed Elsevier companies. He is a graduate of the University of Dayton.
